KIMBERLY BONGCARON

Licensed Midwife

Certified Professional Midwife

MEET YOUR MIDWIFE

My journey into the birth world was very serendipitous. In 2009 during my undergrad, I happened to stumble across an internship opportunity to assist a Health Educator facilitate group prenatal education classes at a Community Clinic in Northern California.  There I learned all about Doulas, Midwives, unmedicated birth, & water births.  Working closely with Midwives and the perinatal team at the Community Clinic opened my eyes to a whole new world of birth and I was eager to learn more.  In 2013, I became a certified birth Doula and after my first birth, I was hooked! It was such an intimate and empowering moment not only for the birthing family, but myself as well; I knew that I wanted to do more.  Shortly after, I applied and was accepted to Midwifery school.  Once I started Midwifery school, I found out that my great-great grandmother was the “local midwife” in the Philippines.  I knew in that moment this was my calling!

My name is Kimberly or Kim and I am a Licensed Midwife & Certified Professional Midwife.  I completed a three-year program through Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in San Diego, CA and graduated in 2016.  I am very passionate about pregnancy & birth. I believe that knowledge is power and birthing families should be educated and informed. Birthing families should know they have options and the opportunity to have the birth they desire regardless of where and with whom. My goal and wish as your Midwife is for you to feel educated, empowered, and supported through your journey into parenthood!

I was born and raised in Northern California, but relocated to Southern California in 2011. My life before birth was still in the health care setting, but in administration; I was an office manager for 10 years.  I graduated from CSU, Sacramento in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Health Science, Health Care Administration. I am married to my childhood boyfriend and have been together for over 25 years… yes you do the math! After supporting families for over 5 years as a Doula and New Midwife, I finally got to practice what I preach!  We welcomed our first (and only) son earth side in February 2020. He was born quickly at home into his daddy’s arms surrounded by a few of my amazing Midwife friends!

Birth is such a sacred and vulnerable time for families and I am forever honored to be party of their journey.  I have supported over 250 (and counting) families in hospitals, birth centers, & home birth settings as they welcomed their babies earth side! I look forward to connecting with you & your family!

“Kim is absolutely amazing! She’s a midwife & friend all in one! From our first zoom ‘interview’ Kim answered every single question with ease. even the hard questions with answers I didn’t want to hear I felt calm, I could feel her passion for midwifery & her clients, she had a very welcoming energy. I just felt super comfortable with her right off the bat. I was told to do a few other interviews & I did but I just knew she was the one I wanted to go through the journey of birthing my baby with. and so glad I did! Every visit was always such a fun hour or so. She would never rush me; she took the time to get to know me as well as what I wanted when it came to birth & always answered my questions as well as questions, I didn’t even know I had. She is very knowledgeable & passionate in midwifery. I felt so comfortable with her. my only regret is that when I started with Kim, I was 27 weeks & I wish I could have experienced pregnancy from the beginning with her. I didn’t have the best experience with my providers which is why I switched to home birth & even so late in the game Kim made it the best experience. If I ever have another baby, she’s the first person I’m calling! “ -Anonymous
